In much the same way as on premises servers have redundant hot swappable power supplies and RAID storage, having redundant internet connections will become standard practice. You can't have your business grinding to a stop because a builder has put a digger's shovel through a telecoms cable. Having 2 internet connections from 2 separate telecoms companies won't solve the problem either, as both will be using a connection to the nearest street cabinet or exchange.
